Green and pink pigments extracted from seaweeds are considered to have strong pharmacological effects and be efficacious against cancer, while being widely accepted in producing toothpaste and cosmetics worldwide.

The success in extracting those pigments from seaweeds is expected to bring about a big change in pharmaceutical and foodstuff industries.

It was registered as a patent of the DPRK.
