Kim Jong Un Tours Farm Machine Exhibition
Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, visited a farm machine exhibition.

Looking at various farm machines and their spare parts and small farm implements on display, he learned in detail about their performance and specifications.

He praised the Cabinet, the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant sectors for striving to manufacture modern farm machines with indigenous efforts and technology as intended by the Party.

It was a lifetime desire of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il to free the agricultural workers from difficult and toilsome work by comprehensively mechanizing the agriculture, he said, calling upon all the officials, Party members and other working people of the relevant sectors to turn out in a drive for translating the desire into a reality.

It is important to put the production of farm machines on a Juche basis, he said, underscoring the need to devise and manufacture utility farm machines suited to the natural and geographical features of the country and its local conditions and constitution of Koreans by domestic efforts and technology.

It is necessary to give precedence to designing in order to produce modern farm machines, he said, adding that efforts should be channeled into designing auto, semi-auto and manual farm machines and advanced technology be actively introduced in view of the world trend in production of farm machines.

He also stressed the importance to take thorough measures for supplying materials and tools needed for farm machine production, build up the ranks of technicians and skilled workers and properly conduct the work for raising their technical level.

As there are full-fledged farm machine production bases provided by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and workers of the country are experienced in producing various kinds of farm machines and their spare parts, it is quite possible to turn out modern farm machines if they set to work with a vengeance, he said.

Noting that he would actively back the production of farm machines by personally solving the problems arising in it, he encouraged the officials of the Cabinet and the Ministry of Agriculture to work out in a big way and boldly push ahead with the drive for increasing the proportion of the mechanization of agriculture.

He expressed expectation and belief that the officials and working people of the Cabinet, the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant sectors would remain true to the intention of the Party to make a breakthrough for new victory on the agricultural front.

Accompanying him were Pak Pong Ju, O Su Yong, Ri Chol Man and Jo Yong Won.
