KPA Servicepersons Tour Kim Jong Il's Birthplace in Paektusan Secret Camp
Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Servicepersons of the Korean People's Army (KPA) who are taking part in the red flag relay now underway to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation climbed Mt. Paektu Sunday.

The relay racers toured the Kim Jong Il's birthplace in Paektusan Secret Camp that day.

They laid bouquets before the mosaic depicting the three commanders of Mt. Paektu and paid tribute to them before visiting the Headquarters log cabin in Sobaeksu valley.

They looked round the historic relics preserved at the birthplace, being briefed on the fact that Kim Jong Il was born as the son of guerrillas and grew while hearing the gun report as lullaby during the anti-Japanese war.

Before the monument inscribed with the poem "Shining Star" personally written by Kim Il Sung in praise of Kim Jong Il, they were briefed on it.

They also went round the shallow well used by anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk, trees bearing revolutionary slogans written by her, guerrilla quarters and other places.

They, divided into groups of the east and west coasts, dynamically ran toward the destination.

The second group of relay racers held a bonfire gathering near Karim Stream of Pochonbo on Sunday evening.

The ranks of relay racers visited the Sinpha and Phophyong revolutionary sites on Monday.

They laid a floral basket and bunches of flowers before the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Suk at the revolutionary sites and paid tribute to them.
