Loving Care Shown by Peerlessly Great Men of Mt. Paektu for War Veterans
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un made sure that the fighting spirit displayed by war veterans and feats performed by them in the life-and-death battles for defending the party, the leader, the country and its people were glorified on the highest level.

The President made sure that a decree of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on instituting the title of Hero of the Republic was promulgated on June 30, Juche 39 (1950).

The Victorious War Museum was opened on August 17, 1953 thanks to his noble moral obligation and care.

He saw to it that the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum was newly built on the bank of the Pothong River in April, 1974.

He took care of the war veterans so that they might perform miracles and innovations in the post-war rehabilitation and construction and socialist construction and glorify their lives.

Kim Jong Il made sure that the fighting spirit displayed in the 1950s lived on as powerful mental power promoting the era of Songun and building of a thriving nation.

His intention and will that respecting the war veterans is the tradition of the Korean revolution which won victories with arms are reflected in his "Respecting the Forerunners of the Revolution Is a Noble Moral Obligation of Revolutionaries" and other works.

He established the habit of respecting the war veterans throughout the society on the occasion of the 1st National Conference of Veterans held in July, 1993.

Meetings of veterans were held in each province, city, county and complexes across the country and all the war veterans and the persons who performed feats in the war were awarded the Order Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The Monument to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War was erected as a monument to the heroes of the era.

War heroes' native places and alma maters and various other schools were renamed after them and their busts erected.

He made sure that war veterans joined the military parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army (KPA) and let some of them lecture at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum.

Kim Jong Un made sure that the 2nd National Conference of Veterans was held in July, 2012 as a grand festival of victors.

He had a photo session with the veterans and presented gifts to them with loving care.

The 3rd National Conference of Veterans was held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.

The Order Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was conferred to 47 075 veterans including anti-Japanese fighters, war veterans and persons of meritorious services during the war as they performed heroic merits in the war and made contributions to the building of a rich and powerful country after the war, too.

Celebration events took place in the presence of Kim Jong Un. They included a military parade and Pyongyang city mass demonstration for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and a fireworks display.

The Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum was successfully built. It has in its centre sculpture "Victory" bearing his autograph "Tribute to the Great Years."

The Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery was built as a monumental structure.

Kim Jong Un took a measure to make a tradition to celebrate the war victory day with splendor every year and invite representatives of war veterans across the country to participate in the events to be held in Pyongyang.
