Brew of Makkoli, Cultural Heritage of Korea
Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- The brew of makkoli (unrefined liquor) is one of the national intangible heritages in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

From olden times, Koreans used to take this traditional drink in hot summer.

Makkoli with a long history is usually made from starch-containing crops and yeast, and it is diverse in variety and brewing.

This drink has various nutrients with peculiar taste and aroma. Its alcoholic content is under 10 percent and sugar content 2-4 percent.

It is considered to be good for treatment of such diseases as diabetes, myocardial infraction and arteriosclerosis.
