Koreans in Japan, Japanese Demand Application of Tuition-free Program to Korean Schools
Tokyo, July 11 (KNS-KCNA) -- A demonstration took place outside the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan in Tokyo on July 10 to demand the application of tuition-free program for senior high schools to Korean schools.

Present there were officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), officials of its organizations and enterprises, teachers and students of Korean University and Korean high schools, parents of students, Koreans in Japan and officials of Japanese civic organizations including the representative of the Liaison Council Opposing Exclusion of Korean School from Tuition-free Program for Senior High Schools.

In the demo speakers said the Japanese government's discriminating policy toward Korean schools is not only an unbearable violation of the rights of Koreans in Japan but also a breach of the Japanese Constitution.

It is also an act of going against the era, they charged.

That day the Liaison Council of Graduates from Korean High Schools and the Liaison Council of Societies of Mothers of Korean Schools submitted a written request addressed to the Japanese prime minister and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.

In the request the organizations demanded an immediate cancellation of the discriminating policy toward the students of the Korean schools.
