Elders of S. Korean Civic and Public Bodies Urge Japan to Make Official Apology for Sexual Slavery
Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- Elders of civic and public organizations in Pusan, south Korea held a press conference at the Pusan City Assembly on July 7 at which they urged Japan to admit its past crimes and make an apology and reparation for them.

Speakers said that Japan is denying its crimes, far from making an official apology and reparation for the sexual slavery.

Japan should not perpetrate such acts as justifying its colonial rule and war of aggression and visiting Yasukuni Shrine, they said, calling for conducting an international campaign to hold the acts in check.

In a joint statement the elders accused the Japanese government of totally ignoring the issue of the past history though nearly 70 years have passed since Korea's liberation and remaining indifferent to pain and wounds of the victims of the sexual slavery.

They urged the Japanese government to admit that the sexual slavery was an organized and premeditated crime and make an apology and reparation for it.
