DPRK's Election System Is Most Popular: Scholar
Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- Elections for deputies to provincial (municipality), city (district) and county people's assemblies are scheduled to take place in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on July 19.

Election committees at all levels were already organized and have launched their work.

In this regard, Dr. Ri Kyong Chol, section chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, told KCNA:

The election system in the DPRK is most popular and democratic.

Its superiority is manifested, above all, in the fact that the system ensures the politico-ideological cohesion of the state and society and consequently all of the eligible voters take active part in elections.

Its advantages also find itself in the fact that every citizen is allowed to take part in elections on an equal footing.

In the country citizens aged over 17 can vote or be voted, irrespective of sex, nationality, job, property, standards of education, political view and religious belief. Elections are held through a universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot and those voters, unable to go to polling stations for sickness or old age, are allowed to cast their ballots into mobile boxes.

And the election system's superiority is expressed in the fact that those devotedly working for the interests of the popular masses are elected for deputies to the organs of state power at all levels.

Through the forthcoming elections, the DPRK people will show again the might of their unbreakable unity around the supreme leader and the invincibility of Korean-style socialism.
