Long-Distance Belt Conveyor of Unryul Mine
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- The Unryul Mine, an iron ore producer in the west coastal area of the DPRK, boasts of a long-distance belt conveyor.

The 4 600 meter-long conveyor was built between Kumsanpho and Nunggum Islet in a short period of six months in June Juche 64 (1975) on the initiative of leader Kim Jong Il.

Since then, tens of millions of waste ore have been poured into the sea, linking several islets to the mainland and thus exposing more than 4 700 hectares of tideland. And the tideland has been reclaimed into farms and salterns, which are making great contribution to improving the standard of people's living.

A pickled-fish processing factory is now under construction on Nunggum Islet. And thick forest was created along the road on the embankment linking Kwail County, South Hwanghae Province.

Now it has been pushed forward to modernize the long-distance belt conveyor.
