Anniversary of North-South Joint Declaration Observed by Korean Magazine in Russia
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- Thongil, monthly socio-political magazine of the International United Confederation of Koreans, carried a special write-up on June 11 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

It was illustrated with a photo of leader Kim Jong Il meeting with former south Korean President Kim Dae Jung.

It edited the full text of the joint declaration.

It carried the following article under the headline "On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration between the north and the south of Korea":

A historic event took place in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, on June 15, 2000.

A north-south summit took place for the first time in the history of national division and June 15 joint declaration was adopted there.

The keynote of the joint declaration is to solve the issue of Korea's reunification in an independent and peaceful way.

The past relations between the north and the south go to prove that if they support and implement the joint declaration, they can head for reconciliation, unity and peace and reunification but if it is denied and scrapped, this will only spark discontent and clash.
