Present there were officials in the field of public health, officials concerned, voluntary blood donors, the acting representative of the WHO and members of the missions of international organizations in the DPRK, a delegation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies working in the DPRK and foreign diplomatic envoys and staff members of their embassies in the DPRK.

Speakers said observing World Blood Donor Day is aimed to satisfactorily supply safe blood and blood products by voluntary unpaid blood donors in all countries, calling for taking an active part in blood donation with ardent love for the society and human beings.

Certificates and souvenirs were handed over to voluntary blood donors at the event. The participants watched a video clip on the safe blood and blood donation and enjoyed a performance given by the artistes of Nampho City.

Before the event, they went round the Nampho City Blood Bank and looked round photos introducing successes made by the DPRK in the blood transfusion.

The Day was also observed in all provinces on the same day.
