The championship brought together at least 230 men and women players from over 40 countries and regions including the DPRK, Uzbekistan and Turkey.

DPRK weightlifter Pak Jong Ju came first in the separate events and total points in the men's 62 kg category by lifting 124 kg in snatch and 156 kg in jerk. He proved successful in the 2013 World Juvenile Weightlifting Championships and the 2nd Juvenile Olympic Games.

Kwon Yong Gwang finished third in snatch and jerk and total points in the men's 69 kg category and Ri Song Gum in the women's 48 kg category while Rim Un Sim third in snatch and total points in the women's 58 kg category.
