Solidarity with Korean People's Struggle for National Reunification Expressed at International Meeting
Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- A solidarity resolution for Korea's reunification was adopted at the meeting of the Presidential Council of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) held in Geneva on June 7.

The resolution said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Since the U.S. occupied south Korea after Japan's defeat, the U.S. has inflicted the sufferings of division upon the Korean nation through constant war threats and moves for harassing peace, it said, and went on:

Today the situation on the Korean peninsula is so tense that a war may break out anytime due to the U.S. and the south Korean authorities' reckless hostile policy towards the DPRK and their war exercises.

Asserting that to realize the independent reunification of Korea is the unanimous desire of not only the Korean people but also the world progressives and peace-loving forces and the requirement of the times, the WFTU resolves as follows:

Firstly, the WFTU strongly demands the U.S. roll back its hostile policy towards the DPRK, withdraw GIs and nuclear war means from south Korea, stop military exercises for aggression and establish a durable peace mechanism.

Secondly, the WFTU urges the south Korean authorities to respect the north-south joint declarations, and not to hinder the south Korean trade unions including the Confederation of Trade Unions from achieving solidarity and alliance with the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea.

Thirdly, the WFTU appeals the world progressives and working people's organizations opposing a war and loving peace to extend support and solidarity to the just struggle of the working people in the north and the south for paving a wide avenue to the independent reunification this year marking the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.
