Universal 12-year Compulsory Education in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Universal 12-year compulsory education has been enforced in the DPRK.

Law on enforcement of the universal 12-year compulsory education was promulgated at the 6th Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly held in September Juche 101 (2012).

The universal 12-year compulsory education is a succession to the universal 11-year compulsory education, which was enforced by the DPRK government under the guidance of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), and a higher stage of educational development.

After acquiring a deep insight into the requirement of developing revolution and the global educational trends, supreme leader Kim Jong Un took an important measure to enforce the universal 12-year compulsory education.

With the beginning of universal 12-year compulsory education in 2014, a signal change has been effected in the education.

New textbooks and reference books for teaching of fresh contents and form have been compiled and the heuristic method of teaching and other advanced educational methods fully introduced.

An increasing number of schools across the country have been put on a higher IT basis.

Kim Ji Won, a student of Munhung Senior Secondary School in Taedonggang District, Pyongyang, said:

I am learning a lot in IT room, foreign-language room and laboratories.

I will study harder and harder, always keeping in my heart the slogan "Let Us Study for Korea!"
