Speakers at the rally said high-ranking officials of the U.S. are pressurizing the "government" of south Korea, insisting on the necessity of THAAD deployment.

The Defense Ministry accepted the deployment, yielding to the U.S. pressure, and furthermore, announced that it would discuss it at the defense ministerial talks with the U.S., they charged, adding:

We strongly oppose the deployment of THAAD as it will escalate military tension and lay a stumbling block in the way of achieving peace and reunification of Korea, the tasks of the nation.
