S. Korean Authorities' Suppression of Teachers Denounced
Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union of south Korea (Jongyojo) on May 20 held a press conference outside the puppet Ministry of Education to accuse the authorities of suppressing teachers, according to the south Korean internet paper Voice of People.

Teachers under Jongyojo launched an action for two days off after voting on April 24 in demand of increased public pension and probe into truth behind the ferry Sewol disaster.

The ministry filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office against 24 members of the Central Executive Committee of Jongyojo including its chairman on the charge of violation of "ban on group activities except for the performance of duties by public officials".

Meanwhile, the Jongro Police Station in Seoul summoned the chairman of Jongyojo for questioning on May 13.

At the press conference Jongyojo demanded the ministry stop labeling teachers' exercise of their legitimate rights an illegal action and immediately halt the suppression of them.
