Reception Given to Mark 60th Anniversary of Formation of Chongryon
Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- A reception was given at the People's Palace of Culture on Monday, the 60th anniversary of the formation of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

Present there on invitation were members of a group of Koreans in Japan for expressing thanks to the homeland on the 60th anniversary of Chongryon led by Pae Ik Ju, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, a delegation of veteran officials of Chongryon led by Pak Jong Sang, adviser to the Central Standing Committee of the Union of Korean Writers and Artists in Japan, and other Koreans in Japan staying in the motherland and those related to Chongryon.

Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, Kim Yang Gon, Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the C.C., the Korean Social Democratic Party, officials of social organizations and those concerned.

Vice-Premier Kim Yong Jin said in a speech that Chongryon could record annals of victory and glory along the road of Juche despite storm and stress of history in the past period thanks to the wise leadership and warm loving care shown by President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un.

The DPRK and its people will always remember Chongryon and Koreans in Japan who have made great contributions to the prosperity of the country and its reunification under the uplifted banner of the great Juche idea during the past six decades, he noted.

Pae Ik Ju said that there are hundreds of millions of overseas compatriots in the world but it is rare to find such overseas compatriots as officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan who enjoy all the benefits generation after generation under the care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He said that officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan would devote their patriotic efforts to ushering in a new heyday in the movement of Koreans in Japan, the last instruction of Kim Jong Il, and building the best, reunified and prospering country led by Kim Jong Un.
