The Korean people greet the diamond jubilee of the formation of Chongryon, the joint statement said, and went on:

Chongryon was founded on May 25, Juche 44 (1955) on the initiative of President Kim Il Sung.

Chongryon advancing under the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the dignified overseas citizens' organization of the DPRK defending the democratic national rights of Koreans in Japan and it fulfills the role of the diplomatic mission of the DPRK.

Chongryon has achieved great development under the wise guidance of Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.

It has made positive efforts for the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea, independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, normalization of diplomatic ties between the DPRK and Japan and friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

The statement extended solidarity to the righteous struggle of Chongryon to protect democratic national rights of Koreans in Japan and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.
