DPRK Strives to Preserve Water Resources
Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea is now striving to preserve the water resources.

According to Kim Kwang Min, department director of the Ministry of Urban Management, big efforts have been directed to protecting the water resources and preventing water pollution.

A plan for developing water resources in an overall and rational way was worked out and practical measures were taken for the most effective use of water and control of its quality.

Gravity-fed drinking water service system was established in Sinhung, Yonggwang and many other counties. And purification plants in Pyongyang and other parts of the country were equipped with advanced facilities to improve the water quality.

Meanwhile, a work goes on at hydro-power stations across the country to store water as much as possible.

Also, efforts are concentrated on the technological development for putting the use of water resources, prevention of water pollution, sewage disposal and water environmental control on an IT basis.
