S. Korean "Government" Responsible for Massacre of People by GIs

Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- The Seoul High Court ruled the south Korean "government" is under responsibility to make reparation for the massacre committed by GIs in Phohang, North Kyongsang Province during the last Korean war, according to the south Korean Yonhap News on May 18.

The U.S. imperialists shelled from the sea the civilian refugees on the seaside of Phohang in September 1950, killing hundreds.

Bereaved families filed a lawsuit against the U.S. imperialists.

In face of the protest of the bereaved families, the court could not but investigate the then massacre and ruled that the authorities should make reparation for the U.S. naval bombardment, saying that the motive of the bombardment was the requirement from the ROK army which alluded to the existence of the People's Army soldiers among the refugees.
