DPRK Registers Successes in Introducing Water-saving Farming Methods
Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Cooperative farms across the DPRK are widely introducing advanced rice-growing methods that consume remarkably less water.

According to information available, the new methods are being introduced into nearly 90 percent of rice fields in the country this year.

The new water-saving farming methods would cut down about 8 500 hectares of rice seedbeds, helping save a huge amount of rice seeds.

Agricultural officials across the country organized a meticulous material preparation to apply the new farming methods on a large scale.

The cooperative farms in South Hwanghae Province that had been visited by the leaders are taking the lead in it.

Many cooperative farms in North Hwanghae Province such as the Migok Cooperative Farm in Sariwon City taught leading officials new agricultural technique as part of the push to massively introduce the new farming methods.

There held in counties of South Hamgyong Province a passing-on- technique session, experience-sharing meeting and show for the technical officials.

All the cooperative farms in North Phyongan Province increased the acres growing rice by new methods.

Towns and counties of Kangwon Province are brisk with the work to select high-yielding rice seeds for the introduction of the advanced farming methods.

The agricultural officials and workers are making further successes in the course of applying the new scientific farming methods.
