Deep Attention Paid to Green Architecture in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is paying big efforts to encouraging green architecture.

Ahead of all, a research work has been pushed forward to introduce renewable energy in building structures.

The Paektusan Architectural Institute and the Natural Energy Institute under the State Academy of Sciences remodeled solar collector to raise its efficiency and Kim Chaek University of Technology developed various kinds of small wind-driven generators.

The Ryongsong Machine Complex, in collaboration with the Branch Academy of Railway Science under the State Academy of Sciences, developed a geothermal pump, which can generate rated power, not affected by variation of voltage and frequency.

The Architectural Engineering Branch under the State Academy of Sciences has developed green roofing materials as well as intellectual components for automatic control of facilities necessary for keeping buildings warm.

Such achievements have been also made by the Pyongyang City Planning and Designing Institute and the Pyongyang University of Architecture.

A national scientific and technology presentation and exhibition for green architecture held in March this year marked an important occasion in architectural development of the country.
