Pukchong County Changes Appearance
Pyongyang, May 14 (KCNA) -- Pukchong County in South Hamgyong Province of the DPRK, a famous fruit-producing base, has undergone radical changes as a thriving orchard.

In recent four years the county created more than one thousand hectares of orchard and successfully finished making 8 000 meters of wire net fences.

Several hundred hectares of land were rezoned and carpeted with humus soil and 2 300 kilometers of trench-formed pits dug with the production of over ten million tons of organic fertilizer.

Tens of kilometers of road and waterway were built in the orchard and dwarf apple and other fruit trees planted in more than one thousand hectares of area.

High-yield variety of fruit saplings are being produced in 100-odd hectares of land.

The construction of the Pukchong Apple Institute drew to near completion and 30 hectares of fruit experimental plot appeared in the county.

A signal progress has been made in the work to build fruit storehouse with large capacity and stockbreeding base.
