The system of the agricultural tax in kind which had been instituted in Korea after its liberation positively aroused the farmers to the building of a new country and promoted the solution of the food issue and industrial development. The agricultural tax in kind gradually has taken concrete shape in the direction of providing the conveniences of the farmers. In the period of the past Fatherland Liberation War the farmers were completely exempted from the tax or its rate lowered.

Under the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung the agricultural tax in kind was abolished in the 1964-1966 period in the DPRK.

With the complete abolition of the tax the economic foundation in the cooperative farms of the DPRK was further strengthened and rural areas changed into socialist ones.

This freed farmers from tax burden for ever and their standard of living further improved.
