Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- The 2015 Spring Table-Tennis Tournament for Amateurs and Disabled is going on in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

What draw the spectators' attention in the tournament are doubles by a pair of disabled person and amateur.

Taking the first place in the doubles was the pair of Jon Ju Hyon (disabled) and So Kuk Hwan (amateur). Jon came third in men's table-tennis singles of the 2014 Asian Para Games.

He expressed his will to steadily improve his table-tennis skills and thus produce good results.

According to Yun Chol, secretary of the Korean Sports Association for the Disabled, the current tournament (May 5-10) brought together more than 60 disabled persons over 12 years old and 750 amateurs.

The table-tennis tournament for amateurs and the disabled is to take place twice a year, starting this year, with National Day of Persons with Disabilities (June 18) and International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) as occasions. Doubles are included only in the spring tournament.

In the DPRK disabled persons enjoy the equal socio-political rights as normal citizens while being given all conditions for participation in the state and public activities.
