Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Army Col. General of the Korean People's Army Kim Hyong Ryong, Ri Kil Song, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who doubles as chairman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association, officials concerned, people in the city, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexandr Matsegora and his embassy officials, Russian guests staying in the DPRK, foreign diplomatic envoys and military attaches of foreign embassies here.

A wreath was laid before the tower in the joint name of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the DPRK Cabinet.

Also laid were wreaths in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association, the Pyongyang City People's Committee and the Russian embassy here.

Staff members of the Russian embassy, foreign diplomatic envoys, military attaches of foreign embassies and working people in the city laid bouquets and flowers before the tower.

The participants paid a silent tribute to the soldiers of the Soviet Army who laid down in the battles for Korea's liberation.

They went round the tower.

Wreaths were laid before the cemetery of the fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in Sadong District on the same day in the name of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association, the Pyongyang City People's Committee, the Sadong District People's Committee in Pyongyang City and the Russian embassy here.

Earlier, the Russian embassy officials laid bouquets before the liberation towers, statues, cemeteries and memorial towers of the fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in local areas.

Meanwhile, members of the Russian consulate general in Chongjin laid wreaths before the liberation tower and the cemetery of the fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in Chongjin City.
