Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- A nationwide effort is directed to the forest conservation as well as to the afforestation in the DPRK.

Pyongyang City has given priority to protecting the forests from damage by insects. Kangnam County and Sadong, Unjong and Hyongjesan districts in the city are concentrating efforts on the quarantine inspection and the development of high-efficiency insecticide.

North Phyongan, Jagang and other provinces have worked hard to prevent forest fire and settle the shortage of fuel.

As part of the work, they are paying deep attention to utilizing methane gas and natural energy for household fuel while creating many hectares of firewood forest.
