S. Korean Organizations of Poor and Disabled Support General Strike of KCTU

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations of the poor and disabled including the Solidarity for Liberation of the Poor, the Solidarity for Abolition of Discrimination against the Disabled and the Solidarity for the Poor Society held a press conference in Seoul on April 23 in support of the general strike of the south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU).

Speakers said the April 24 general strike of the KCTU is not a strike of the workers only but an action to settle the issues of the disabled, evacuees and all other people barely eking out their living on this land, their vital rights being trampled down.

They noted that they clearly saw through the Song Wan Jong case that the businesses paid politicians the money they collected from the workers by exploiting them and the political camp enabled the capitalists to exploit them unlimitedly through layoff and part-time job system. They declared the KCTU would carry on May Day and June actions with the April 24 general strike as a prelude.
