The North Chungchong Provincial All-People Measure Committee for Memory of Victims of Ferry Sewol and Probe into Truth held a press conference in Chongju on April 7, calling for the probe into the truth.

It set the memorial period till April 16 and decided to stage actions for the memory of the victims and probe into the truth.

Civic and social organizations in Suwon City, Kyonggi Province installed a joint incense-burning alter on April 8 and declared they would hold memorial services till April 30.

The April 16 Council of Families of Victims held a press conference in Seoul on April 10 and demanded the "government" take immediate measures for salvaging the ferry and finding those missing.

Similar actions were staged in Pusan and Taejon.

Overseas Koreans set the April 11-19 memorial period and are holding meetings and demonstrations in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Chicago and Seattle in the U.S., London, Toronto, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and other dozens of cities.
