The statement said that Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission was an expression of the absolute trust of all the Korean people in him and a reflection of their faith and will to remain loyal to his Songun revolutionary leadership.

He triumphantly led the arduous march, the forced march to shatter the moves of the imperialist allied forces to pressurize and blockade the DPRK and defend socialism, it noted.

The DPRK won one victory after another in the confrontation with the U.S. imperialists and emerged a full-fledged nuclear weapons state thanks to his indomitable will, grit and outstanding leadership, it pointed out.

His revolutionary feats will last forever, it added.
