Inactivated Polio Vaccine Introduced Here
Pyongyang, April 8 (KCNA) -- An event of introducing inactivated polio vaccine took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Wednesday.

Present there were Kim Hyong Hun, vice-minister of Public Health, other DPRK medical officials, Timothy Schaffter, representative of the UNICEF, Stephan Paul Jost, representative of the WHO and staff members of those missions here.

At the event speakers said that the introduction of inactivated polio vaccine is of great significance in preventing children's diseases and improving their health.

They noted that the DPRK was playing a positive role in the work to eliminate polio.

They informed that the UNICEF, WHO and other international bodies and organizations are strengthening cooperation with all countries to eliminate polio.

A lecture was given on the achievements made in improving the public health service in the DPRK, special features of the vaccine and vaccination.

The participants went round several clinics in Pyongyang where the vaccine is being inoculated on 14 week-old babies.
