The families of the victims of the disaster have done all they could such as foot march, hunger strike and signature campaign to probe the truth and many people in south Korea and overseas compatriots joined the bereaved families in their actions, the statement said.

But the south Korean regime and the ruling party have hamstrung these efforts and worked hard to annul the special law on the ferry Sewol disaster, it noted.

All overseas Koreans demanded the south Korean regime and the ruling party abolish at once the "enforcement ordinance", ensure the independent activities of the ad hoc investigation committee and stop obstructing it at once, the statement said, and went on:

All overseas Koreans will never remain a passive onlooker to the conservative forces obstructing the probe into the truth about the disaster but stage actions in solidarity with the bereaved families and honest-minded citizens of the world.
