Beninese Organizations Denounce Japanese Police Authorities' Suppression of Chongryon
Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- The Benin-Korea Amicable Association "Long Live Kim Jong Il, Supreme Leader" and the Benin National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea released a joint statement on March 30 to denounce the Japanese police authorities for searching houses of the chairman and the vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

The statement condemned Japan's brigandish suppression of Chongryon, legitimate overseas citizens' organization of the DPRK, and Koreans in Japan.

It termed the search an unprecedented violence in violation of not only Japan's constitution and the criminal procedure law but also international law. It went on:

The search by the Japanese police authorities was pursuant to a scenario of the U.S. to strangle the DPRK through the toughest "sanctions", talking about "collapse of its social system".

Chongryon is a legitimate overseas citizens' organization of the DPRK defending all democratic and national rights of the Koreans in Japan, and it plays the role of the DPRK diplomatic mission in the absence of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Benin-Korea Amicable Association "Long Live Kim Jong Il, Supreme Leader" and the Benin National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea strongly denounce the suppression of the leading officials of Chongryon as an illegal human rights abuse and an intolerable infringement on the sovereignty of the DPRK.
