Papers Slam Japan's Crackdown upon Chongryon
Pyongyang, March 31 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries searched the houses of the chairman and the vice-chairman of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) by mobilizing police gangsters on March 26. The chairman and the vice-chairman are deputies to the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK.

Papers Tuesday in commentaries say that the brigandish action is a serious infringement upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and touches off resentment of the Korean people.

Rodong Sinmun notes:

The incident goes to clearly prove that the Japanese reactionaries, regarding the DPRK and Chongryon as a thorn in their flesh, have become ever more desperate in their provocation. And the improvement of DPRK-Japan relations touted by them is no more than a fig-leaf to cover up their sinister intention.

The Japanese reactionaries' action was an unprecedented violation of law, serious human rights abuse and politically-motivated fascist crackdown.

The incident was aimed to fan up anti-DPRK and anti-Chongryon sentiment in the Japanese society in a bid to quell the strong demand of the Korean nation and world public opinion for honest settlement of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule and justify their policy of lurch to the right.

Lurking behind this action was a political intention of dishonest forces to deliberately throw an obstacle to the trend of the era towards improving the DPRK-Japan relations.

If the Japanese authorities truly want the improved DPRK-Japan relations, they should ponder over the prevailing situation which may hurt the fate of the DPRK-Japan relations, and make a solemn apology to Chongryon and the DPRK for the recent search.

Minju Joson urges the Japanese reactionaries to stop at once the despicable crackdown upon Chongryon, clearly mindful that with nothing can they infringe upon the sovereignty of the DPRK and destabilize and destroy Chongryon.
