Calamus, Species of Edible Herbs
Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- Calamus is one of species of edible herbs Koreans have taken from olden times.

Kim In Sun, section chief of the Academy of Koryo Medicine, told KCNA that Koreans made liquor, rice cake and pickles with calamus in spring.

The herb, considered to help prevent hair from growing white, was used to heal indigestion and bronchitis.

It is said that Koreans made cushions with dried flowers of the herb to avoid insects.

Water boiled with root of the herb is good for skin.
