Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee decided to hold diverse political and cultural events praising the sacred revolutionary career and the undying exploits of the President on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
