L. Shukolinikov, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Workers' Party of Belarus who doubles as chairman of the Permanent Standing Committee of the Belarus National Association of Friends of Korean People Named after Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to give wide publicity to the undying feats of the President and organize colorful political and cultural events on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
