DPRK Strives to Protect Water Resources
Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- March 22 is World Water Day.

In this regard, Kim Kwang Ho, section chief of the DPRK Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, told KCNA that the country has striven to protect water resources in recent years.

He said:

The State adopted laws on securing water resources and controlling water quality and has long taken a series of measures for their implementation.

As part of the efforts to protect water resources, seawater pipeline was installed between Nampho and Pyongyang a few years ago and water-saving style farming method has been applied throughout the country.

Efforts were also paid to putting sewage treatment plants and depositing reservoirs on a modern basis and installing waste-water treatment facilities at all vessels, ports, wharves and estuaries.

Local scientists have developed various kinds of water treatment technologies.
