Present there were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), So Chung On, director of the Department for International Affairs and Reunification of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Ri Tong Je, chairman of the Association of Koreans in Japan for Peaceful Reunification, Son Hyong Gun, chairman of the Japanese Regional Committee, and other members of the committee and Japanese figures.

Son Hyong Gun in a report referred to the successes made by the committee in the struggle for accomplishing the great national unity and developing the national reunification movement into the nationwide movement.

Nam Sung U called upon all overseas Koreans to decorate June 15 and August 15 as great festivals common to the nation.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

A special statement was adopted under the title of "We resolutely denounce the joint military exercises frustrating the north-south relations and bringing the disaster of a nuclear war to the Korean peninsula".

The statement said that frantic Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises are not "annual defensive" but provocative and dangerous war exercises for aggression aimed to make a preemptive attack on the DPRK.

It said that the above-said committee would achieve solidarity with all the Koreans in the north and the south and abroad and more dynamically wage the movement for peace against war to foil the war moves of the separatists at home and abroad.

It said the committee would conduct together with all the Koreans in Japan and broad Japanese citizens diverse activities to remove the cause of war on the Korean peninsula.

The statement concluded that the committee would dynamically advance towards a broad avenue to independent reunification.
