S. Koreans Oppose Retrogressive Revision of Pension System
Pyongyang, March 15 (KCNA) -- More than 300 south Korean trade unions and civic and social organizations of south Korea, including the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society, the Solidarity for Progress, the Federation of Women's Organizations, the Solidarity for Abolition of Discrimination against Disabled Persons and the Teachers Union, formed a People's Action for Increasing Public Pension in Seoul.

A press conference for the inauguration of the action was held in Seoul on March 11.

Speeches were made by the chief vice-chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions, the permanent vice-chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions, the secretary general of the Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society, the secretary general of the Federation of Women's Organizations, the permanent co-representative of the Solidarity for Abolition of Discrimination against Disabled Persons and the chairman of the Government Employees' Union.

They said that the Park Geun Hye regime was not following through on the "commitment" to ensuring basic pension.

They noted that the regime cut down the pension for the government employees but it would retrogressively revise the pension for the ordinary people later.

They said they would fight against the authorities' revision of pension in order to save the women from poverty and provide a stable life to the popular masses.

The participants called upon the civic and social organizations to take part in the solidarity struggle to check the authorities' revision moves.
