All-Korean Committee Calls for Opening up Broad Avenue to Independent Reunification This Year
Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The North, the South and the Overseas Side Committees for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration (All-Korean Committee) issued a resolution Wednesday.

The resolution said that the formation of All-Korean Committee on March 4, 2005 enabled Koreans to push forward the work of implementing the north-south declarations as a nationwide movement both in name and reality. It went on:

The committee will invariably hold fast to the July 4 joint statement, the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration as the reunification charter and reunification programme common to the nation and take the lead in putting them into practice.

The committee will make sustained efforts to hold brisk dialogue and negotiations, exchange and contact between the north and the south, fully support good agreements made in this course and take the lead in implementing them.

It will resolutely reject the confrontation between social systems that denies and slanders the idea and system of the other party, and strongly foil all kinds of hostile acts and unreasonable interference in internal affairs by outside forces that lay an artificial obstacle in the way of improving the inter-Korean relations.

It will make efforts on its own initiative to remove the danger of war, defuse the tension and provide an environment for the reconciliation and peace of the nation on the Korean peninsula.

It will launch more dynamic nation-wide movement for peace against war in order to resolutely frustrate the reckless joint military drills of the inside and outside forces seeking division of Koreans.

It will warn Japan against rushing headlong into the road for emerging a military giant as it embellishes the past invasions it made against the Korean nation and Asian countries to make them its colonies.

It will also further a nation-wide movement and activities for gaining international solidarity to force Japan to stop distortion of history, attempt at grabbing Tok Islets and discrimination against Koreans in Japan and to make an apology and reparation for its past history of aggression.

The resolution called for opening up a broad avenue to independent reunification at any cost by the concerted efforts of all Koreans this year that marks the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation, adding:

The committee will sponsor with splendor great reunification festivals involving delegates from the north and the south and abroad on the occasions of the 15th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration and the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

It will also make visits, contacts, meetings for reunification, cooperation and exchange brisk among organizations of Koreans of various circles and in different fields and regions including those of workers, farmers, youth and students, women, media persons and religionists.
