Koguryo Mural Tomb under Restoration
Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Restoration of a mural tomb dating back to Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668) is now under way in the DPRK.

The tomb was discovered in Tongsan-dong in Rangnang District, Pyongyang a few years ago and is believed to be built in the 4th or 5th century.

The tomb is characteristic of Koguryo mural tombs, including the mural tomb in Yaksu-ri.

What draws attention of archaeologists in the tomb are murals.

Unearthed in the tomb are pieces of bones for three persons, gold ornaments, bowls and others.

Kim Song Chol, a researcher of the Archaeological Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences, told KCNA that the tomb is supposed to belong to a powerful local official of Koguryo Kingdom.

Ro Chol Su, deputy director of the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, said the restoration of the tomb is now under way with credit.
