Korean Aviation Sports Rapidly Develops
Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- Nearly seven decades have passed since the Korean Aviation Association was founded in December, 1945.

Korean aviation sports has made rapid progress under the care of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu.

DPRK players took part in international aero model contest in 1975 with model planes made with their indigenous technology and equipment and materials, winning six gold medals and three bronze medals.

In particular, they placed first in the individual and group contests of rubber-propelled model planes of the World Aero Model Championship that year.

In the contest, Paek Chang Son won a world title and bagged a rotating cup, gold cup and gold medal.

Son Kye Phil came first in the 800-meter accuracy landing event in the International Parachute Contest held in 1980, and DPRK players won the gold medal in the men's group accuracy landing event of the Sixth Asia and Oceania Parachuting Championship.

DPRK players demonstrated high aero model plane manufacturing technology and skillful control at the International Free Flying Aero Model Contests for Mongolian Cup in 2010 and 2011.

Kim Hyong Jun placed first at the men's individual accuracy landing event and women players proved successful at the women's group accuracy landing event in the 16th Asia Parachuting Championship and the 2014 Indonesia International Open Tournament held last year.

Korean aviation sports is greeting a new heyday in its development.
