Actions for Protecting National Education, Korean Schools Staged in Japan
Tokyo, February 23 (KNS-KCNA) -- A meeting took place at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo on Feb. 21 in demand of the application of the tuition-free program for senior high schools to Korean schools in Japan.

Present there were Koreans in Japan, school youth and children, personages of Japanese organizations including the representative of the Liaison Council against Exclusion of Korean Schools from Tuition-free Program for Senior High Schools and a co-representative of the Citizens Meeting for Protecting Our Schools and Children in south Korea.

The participants watched a video showing the actions for settling the issue of supporting Korean schools in the past.

At the meeting speakers said the right to education is the right all children should enjoy.

They declared they would carry on their actions till discrimination against Koreans in Japan is lifted and the issue of supporting Korean schools is settled.

An appeal was adopted at the meeting.

Meanwhile, a demonstration demanding the application of the tuition-free program for senior high schools to Korean schools was staged outside the building of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan on Feb. 20.
