S. Korean Authorities' Forcible Dissolution of Progressive Political Party Slammed
Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- Ex-lawmakers of the former Unified Progressive Party (UPP) and counsels of south Korea held a press conference outside the building of the Constitutional Court on Feb. 16 denouncing the authorities for their politically-motivated repressive action of disbanding the political party.

At the conference speakers disclosed the injustice of the decision of the court to disband the legitimate political party.

They said that the authorities deprived the lawmakers from the party of membership of the "National Assembly" while talking about their "political desire" and "ideological inclination" without any legal ground. They went on:

The decision made to dissolve the UPP, though the trial of the case of the attempted rebellion was not over, was an action of totally ignoring international practice.

When the crisis of the regime reached its height, Park Geun Hye resorted to the politically-motivated crackdown upon the political party and posed a threat to the people.

They urged the court to rectify the serious mistake, though belatedly, and hold a retrial of the dissolution of the UPP.
