Ipomoea batatas Lam, known to be one of health foodstuffs, is abundant in medicinal substances.

Researchers of the faculty developed a new technology of extracting natural pigments from it, after having succeeded in cultivating it under the climate and soil conditions of Korea.

The natural pigments are applicable to making anti-oxidation drinks and anthocyan, an organic compound which is formed in the process of extraction, is used in manufacturing eye lotions.
