Kim Jong Il's Birth Anniversary Celebrated by Koreans in Russia
Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- Koreans in Maritime Territory of Russia held a meeting at the DPRK consulate general in Nakhodka on Feb. 11 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.

Displayed at the venue of the event was a photo of the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill.

On display there were works of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un and books on undying revolutionary feats of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu.

Also displayed there were photos showing the appearance of the DPRK.

Present at the event were the vice-chairman of the United Confederation of Koreans in Maritime Territory of Russia, and officials of Koreans bodies and Koreans in other regions and the consul general and consuls.

The participants placed a floral basket and bunches of flowers before the full-length painting of the President standing on Mt. Paektu together with Kim Jong Il and paid tribute to them.

At the event speakers said Kim Jong Il defended socialist Korea and glorify it under the uplifted banner of Songun and laid an eternal foundation for the prosperity of Korea.

He was deeply respected by the world's progressives for his great contribution to boosting the DPRK-Russia friendship and ensuring peace and security in Northeast Asia, they said.

They expressed belief that Korea was sure to be reunified thanks to Kim Jong Un who is successfully carrying forward the cause of the preceding leaders.
