The letter paid high tribute to General Kim Jong Il, the eternal image of the powerful Paektusan nation and banner of all victories and glories, and extended the greatest glory and warmest congratulations to Marshal Kim Jong Un who is opening up a broad avenue of Kim Il Sung's nation and Kim Jong Il's Korea in the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu, in reflection of the boundless reverence of the vanguard fighters and people from all walks of life in the south.

It noted that the revolutionary career of the General was the most glorious one of the distinguished revolutionary and peerless patriot who dashed ahead like the wind towards the brilliant victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche with the soul and spirit of Mt. Paektu.

He made a bold decision to bring about an epochal phase of national reunification and ushered in the June 15 era of excitement and joy in the land of the south and the north of Korea which was frozen due to confrontation and distrust, instilling the bright hope for independent reunification into all Koreans, it said.

It evinced the resolution to wage an all-out struggle for achieving the great unity and solidarity of the nation and implementing the historic July 4 joint statement, June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration under the banner of Our Nation Itself, regarding the great programme for independent reunification set forth in Kim Jong Un's historic New Year address as coordinates of life and struggle.

It underlined the need for the patriotic democratic forces to turn out as one to resolutely shatter the moves of the U.S. and pro-U.S. sycophantic and treacherous forces to ignite a war against the north and escalate confrontation with fellow countrymen and their despicable "human rights" racket against the DPRK and deal a heavy blow at the evermore undisguised moves of the conservative ruling forces to crack down on progressive forces, eliminate forces following the north and revive the "yusin" dictatorship.
