After Korea's liberation, the President dynamically pushed forward the preparations for building the regular armed forces on the basis of his precious experience in building the army gained in the crucible of the anti-Japanese war and thus proclaimed the founding of the Korean People's Army (KPA), the regular revolutionary armed forces, on Feb. 8, 1948.

The KPA won the war against the U.S. which boasted of being the "strongest" in the world early in the 1950s and thus brought about the beginning of the downhill turn for the U.S. imperialists and honorably defended the country's sovereignty and dignity.

Since then, the KPA has coped with every military threat and provocation of the U.S. in the fierce confrontation with it and fully displayed the might as an invincible army.

Feb. 8, 1948 will always remain recorded in the history along with the invincible mettle of the KPA which has reliably defended Korean socialism and ensured peace and security on the Korean peninsula.
