National Art Exhibition Opens to Mark Day of Shining Star
Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- A national art exhibition opened with due ceremony at the Korean Art Gallery on Tuesday in celebration of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il (the Day of Shining Star).

Displayed in the center of the exhibition is a fine art depicting Kim Jong Il standing atop Mt. Paektu.

Also on display are art pieces showing the revolutionary careers and personalities of the peerless great persons of Mt. Paektu and art pieces depicting service personnel and people of the DPRK performing shining feats in the defence of socialism and the building of a thriving country.

Among them are Korean painting "February Holiday Ahead of National Liberation", acryl paintings "Illustrious Commander, Shining Star of Mt. Paektu" and "Arms in Our Hands Guarantees the Victory of Korean revolution", oil painting "Saying That He Came to Meet His Soldiers" and jewel painting "It Dawns on the Chongchon River".

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, Yang Hyong Sop and other officials concerned, artists, working people and students in Pyongyang.

An opening address was made by Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture.
